THE INDIKA ALLIANCE is a Minneapolis based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that works to improve the lives of girls and women in domestic work in India. We do this through awareness building, advocacy and fundraising in the United States, and facilitating cross-cultural advocacy among young people in both countries.
Our Partner in India: We are proud to partner with the National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM), India’s foremost organization for the support, education, and empowerment of India’s domestic workers since 1985; and the recipient of the country’s highest award for human rights – The Priyadarshini Global Award. NDWM’s programs have impacted more than three million domestic workers across India.
The Indika Alliance works to improve the lives of girls and women in domestic work in India by supporting their struggle for human rights, dignity and justice; and helping to protect them from trafficking and abuse.
We envision that all domestic workers in India will be empowered to advocate for themselves and enjoy the rights, dignity, and protections that they deserve as workers. We also envision a society where trafficking of children and young girls into domestic work is abolished; and child workers have access to education and a better childhood.
