Shivani graduated from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, with degrees in Public Health and Public Policy. While in college, she served as the Student Government President of the School of Public Health. Through this role, Shivani coordinated various fundraisers, such as a benefit for a non-profit organization that offers vocational training programs for HIV positive young adults in Uganda. She now works in New York City as a Healthcare Consultant at Ernst & Young, and focuses specifically on performance improvement.
Shivani grew up in North Carolina speaking Hindi at home, and made frequent trips to India to visit family. During her travels of both Northern and Southern India, she had the chance to volunteer with organizations that support education for the mentally handicapped, and provide job opportunities for women in rural villages. Through these efforts, Shivani was able to witness firsthand the abuse that so many young, domestic workers face in India, and truly internalized the amazing transformation these women are capable of when given the appropriate support. She has also spent time volunteering to provide adequate healthcare in developing countries such as Panama and Honduras
Shivani’s professional interest and knowledge in Public Health, and her personal experiences in India drive her passion for this organization.
